bio and personal notes

"If it's not in the frame, it doesn't exist"

Welcome..

..to my space on the web! Since 1987, I have worked as a freelancer in the art department for commercials, short films and feature films.

What I love about filmmaking is that, for every shot, a lot of people can really move together to create an image. The more everyone in the crew is working together as one, the better the shot.

An important part of my work as a production designer is visual communication. Sketches, moodboards, 3d models of locations and stage designs, pre-animated shots, 3d light renders, they are a great tool to fuse all the departments together to create the director's vision.

I've come to a stage in my development as a production designer where I do literally that; design the production. In preproduction, together with the director, dop, and production, I work towards the clearest possible plan for scenes and shots, taking into account the story, the look, lighting, camera move, postproduction elements and cost factors. I have extensive knowledge of all technical departments and know how to weld them together in a creative way.
